Marusay River breached critical level, Sinocalan normal
MARUSAY River in Calasiao is now above critical level as of 9:00 a.m. of September 6, which prompted the evacuation of residents of barangays in both Calasiao and Dagupan to to higher grounds.
The Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office reported the level of water of the Marusay River, south of Dagupan City, was already 8.5 feet, more than one foot higher than its 7.0 feet critical level.
The water of the Marusay River flows down to the Pantal River in Dagupan City before emptying to the Lingayen Gulf.
The deeper Sinocalan River in Sta. Barbara, east of Calasiao from where Marusay River draws its water, was 6.9 meter and is only .01 meter below the normal level of 7:00 meter
At the Dagupan City hall, Mayor Belen Fernandez drew up plans with the Dagupsn City Disaster Risk and Reduction Council for the preemptive evacuation of residents living near the banks of the Pantal River as incessant rains continue. (Leonardo Micua)
