Pangasinan ships 2-M kilos of salt to PCA 

THE Pangasinan Salt Center in Bolinao, operated by the provincial government, shipped an initial two million kilos or 40,000 sacks of Agricultural Grade Salt Fertilizer to the Philippine Coconut Authority (PCA) as part of a partnership intended to boost the local salt industry and coconut production nationwide.

The province and the PCA earlier signed a memorandum of agreement in accordance with a resolution approved by the Sangguniang Panlalawigan.

Pangasinan tops in animal, poultry shipments 

PANGASINAN ranked first among the four Region 1 provinces in the number of animal shipping permits that were issued by the Bureau of Animal Industry (BAI).

Lingayen launches campaign vs mufflers, sirens, blinkers 

THE local government of Lingayen has launched its campaign on the responsible use of mufflers, sirens and blinkers by motorists  in accordance with Administrative Order No. 2224-001 of the Land Transportation Office.

First launched in Bayambang, Rosales and Alaminos City, the campaign seeks to make roads safer for both motorists and pedestrians. (Jam Victorio)

Teachers still adjusting to Matatag curriculum 

THREE weeks after the opening of schools, teachers are still adjusting to the new Matatag na Kurikulom of the Department of Education, according to Benjo Basas, chairman of the Teachers’ Dignity Coalition, which initially opposed the program.

In an interview with IFM Dagupan, he said they are complying even as it takes them much longer working hours to implement the new curriculum. The group has asked the government to increase the salaries and medical benefits of teachers to compensate for the work adjustments. (Mathew Pacheco)

San Nicolas steps up gender-based violence awareness 

THE San Nicolas municipal government has stepped up its awareness program against gender-based violence, focusing on informing the youth on what to do in case they are attacked by sexual predators.

Citing a few cases of rape registered in the town, officials called on the youth to immediately report to the police and the Public Attorney’s Office any kind of sexual advances. (Rona Racca)

Blood supply in Region 1 remains sufficient

THE supply of blood in the Ilocos Region remains sufficient despite the recent surge in dengue patients, with the most severe cases requiring blood platelet transfusion, according to Dr. Rheuel Bobis, Medical Officer IV of DOH-CHD 1.

He said his office conducts a blood donation drive every three months to ensure stable supply. (Rona Racca)

DepEd alerts schools vs M-Pox 

THE Department of Education in Region 1 has ordered all schools to intensify health protocols in a bid to protect learners from M-Pox or Monkey Pox, the new global public health emergency identified by the World Health Organization (WHO).

DepEd also ordered its Support Services Division to make all school health clinics operational and be prepared to set up isolation rooms for patients undergoing treatment. Teachers were also ordered to advise learners who are feeling unwell and manifesting symptoms of M-Pox not to go to school and stay in isolation in their homes. (Mathew Pacheco)

Lingayen VM decries malicious report about cash payout 

LINGAYEN Vice Mayor Mac Dexter Malicdem has decried a malicious report about the alleged reduction of the P5,000 cash payout for senior citizens from the Department of Social Welfare and Development.

The report that senior citizens received only P1,000 of the P5,000 cash out was investigated by the Sangguniang Bayan while he was in Iloilo City on official business. The town’s senior citizens, meanwhile, confirmed they received the full amount of P5,000 each from DSWD. (Jam Victorio)

Alaminos City adopts strict measures vs ASF 

AMID the rising cases of African Swine Fever in some parts of the country, Alaminos Mayor Arth Bryn Celeste has issued an executive order banning the entry of hogs, meat and its by-products into the city coming from places where there are confirmed ASF cases.

Corollary to this, the City Veterinary Office conducted an inventory on the hog population of Alaminos City and distributed disinfectants to backyard hog raisers. (Joana de Vera)

Two cadavers found floating in Pantal River 

THE cadavers of two unidentified men were found floating in the Pantal River in Dagupan City, with asphyxia as the possible cause of death, according to the police.

One of the cadavers is estimated to be 30 to 40 years old, 5’4” in height and brown complexioned, while the other is 18 to 20 years old, 5’2”. (Jam Victorio)
