City Hall presses SP to pass Supplemental Budget No. 2
THE Office of Dagupan Mayor Belen Fernandez again wrote to the Sangguniang Panlungsod inquiring about the current status of Supplemental Budget No. 2 for 2024 which had long been pending before the committee on finance, budget and appropriations controlled by the opposition, the council’s majority bloc.
The August 19, 2021 letter signed by City Legal Officer Aurora Valle, which was only acknowledged during the August 27 session of the legislative body, reiterated the pending supplemental budget covers allocations for crucial projects and requirements of the city.
In contrast, Supplemental Budget No. 3-2024 — which covers more than P38 million for the mandated salary adjustments and additional benefits of regular employees along with some projects — was immediately passed during a special session.
Valle emphasized in the letter, a follow-up on a previous communication from the mayor, the key items under Supplemental Budget No. 2, including firetrucks and ambulances for the city’s emergency response capabilities, equipment for Super Family Clinics to improve health care services, hiring of additional nurses and personnel for the City Health Center, construction of school buildings to accommodate the growing students population, and road elevation and drainage system to enhance flood management.
“Given the importance of these projects for the welfare and development of Dagupan City, we look forward for your timely response,” she said.
Valle’s letter was referred by the SP presiding officer, Vice Mayor Bryan Kua, to the committee on finance, budget and appropriations. (Leonardo Micua)
