PANGASINAN has the highest number of emigrants in Region 1 at 1,647 as of 2022, according to the Commission on Filipinos Overseas (CFO).

Senior Emigrant Services Officer Eumarlo Tolosa reported that Ilocos Norte was second with 908; Ilocos Sur, 434; and La Union, 486.

The CFO conducted a 4-day Community Education Program in San Carlos City and Urdaneta City last week to raise awareness and understanding of migration, focusing on its impact on the province and other migration-related issues.

The top destinations for Filipino immigrants are the United States, Canada, Japan, Australia, Italy, New Zealand, United Kingdom, Germany, South Korea, and Spain.

In response to the growing number of immigrants from Region 1 and nearby areas, the CFO has set up an office at the Gestdan Centrum Building in Baguio City.

Since its establishment on June 16, 1980 under B.P. No. 79, the CFO served 247,086 individuals in the Ilocos Region, with 109,596 coming from Pangasinan. (Ahikam Pasion)
