No illegal drugs found in jail’s male dormitory 

NO illegal drug was found when the joint Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) conducted a surprise inspection at the Dagupan City Jail Male Dormitory last week.

Oplan “Greyhound” was launched to flush out illegal drugs inside the facility to secure more than 100 Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDLs) confined at the jail’s male dormitory. The PDLs were also made to attend an anti-illegal drug symposium to help ensure they would not return to jail for the same offense. (Jam Victorio)

SINAG alert vs avian flu threat

THE Samahan ng Industriya ng Agrikultura (SINAG) called for stricter border control points and animal quarantine checkpoints in Pangasinan amid the threat of avian flu.

SINAG chairman Rosendo So warned of reports of several chicken in Benguet that originated from Tarlac died from bird flu. This is in addition to the still ongoing efforts of the province of Pangasinan to prevent the entry of pigs and pork infected by African Swine Fever into Pangasinan.  (Mathew Pacheco)

Lingayen route plan okayed by LTFRB 

THE Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) granted the Notice of Compliance to the Local Transportation Route Plan (LTRP) from 2024 to 2028 to the town of Lingayen.

The LTRP is part of the Public Utility Modernization Program (PUMP) containing comprehensive detail on the number of public utility units and the routes where these units are supposed to serve. The route plan in Lingayen will be implemented soon as the ‘drop off’ and ‘exit” points and the new routes of public utility vehicles are designated and established. (Jam Victorio)

Lingayen District Hospital eyes additional 100 beds 

THE Lingayen District Hospital is set to increase its bed capacity by 100 more with the expected construction soon of a three-story hospital building as sought by the Sangguniang Panlalawigan in collaboration with the Department of Health.

Recall that the Lingayen District Hospital and all other provincial government-run hospitals have been recipients of various others medical equipment from the provincial government. ( Joana de Vera)

Ban vs. entry of live hogs into Pangasinan still on 

THE temporary total ban on the entry of live hogs in areas placed under the red zone is continuing as a deterrent to the spread of African Swine Fever (ASF) virus. This is provided in Executive Order No. 0102, series of 2023 signed by Governor Ramon Guico III, said Dr. Aracely Robiniol, provincial veterinarian.

Border control and animal quarantine checkpoints were strengthened in Mabilao, San Fabian; Asan Sur, Sison; Tarlac-Pangasinan-La Union Expressway entry-exit points in Pozorrubio, Urdnaeta City and Carmen, Rosales. Ttraders are required to present documents attesting that the live hogs and pork and their processed products are safe from ASF before these are allowed to enter into the province. (Mathew Pacheco)

Solution to stunting of children eyed 

HEALTH authorities are focused on providing solutions and intervention for children in Region 1 observed to have stunted growth due to malnutrition. Catherine Velasco, consultant nutritionist of the Region 1 Medical Center, said tagged as the main cause of stunting is the lack of protein and calories in the food intake of a child.

She said the Philippine Plan of Action for Nutrition (PPAN) 2023-2028 is to reduce malnutrition through vaccination, feeding programs that can be implemented by backyard gardening and community gardening. (Jam Victorio)
