Elderly tricycle driver killed in pickup collision

AN elderly man was killed when his tricycle was hit by a pickup truck in Alaminos City.

The victim, Agustin Cablayan Velano Jr., a resident of Barangay Alos, Alaminos City, was driving along the National Road when he suddenly made a turn and was then rear-ended by a pickup truck driven by Regie Naboa Cabanilla, 38, a resident of Barangay Baruan, Agno. The impact caused the tricycle to roll over multiple times, resulting in severe injuries to the victim, who was rushed to the hospital but was declared dead on arrival.

Meanwhile, another 68-year-old tricycle driver was killed when his vehicle crashed into a coconut tree, also in Alaminos. The victim, Romeo Maure, a resident of Barangay Poblacion, was driving along Barangay San Vicente with his wife as a passenger. He attempted to overtake another vehicle but lost control of his vehicle. He was declared dead on arrival at the hospital while his wife is in stable condition and recovering from injuries.

Businesswoman scammed, jewelry and cash stolen

A businesswoman tearfully reported to the police that she was scammed by several individuals in the town of Basista. The victim, Mary Ann Ramos Zapico, 41, a resident of Barangay Navatat, Basista, said that a woman and two men approached her, pretending to be sales representatives for gas tank regulators, and attempted to sell her their product.

She claimed that she was hypnotized by them, causing her to unknowingly hand over her jewelry to them, and practically giving them a free pass to take her cellphone, worth P8,000, and approximately P100,000 in cash. Police are still investigating the incident.

Security guard dies in self-accident

A 52-year-old security guard was pronounced dead on arrival at the hospital following a motorcycle accident in the town of Manaoag.

The victim, identified as Leonardo Esteron Roque Jr. from Brgy. Calmay, Laoac, was traveling along a curved section of the provincial road in Barangay Cabanbanan, Manaoag when he lost control of his motorcycle’s handlebar and was thrown into concrete barriers.

Man’s body found in well

A man’s body was discovered in a well in the town of Bolinao, but there were no signs of foul play in his death. The body of Diomedin Natino Ariola, 57, a resident of Barangay Samang Sur, was found by farmer Eufenio Wigan Anama in a well that is 15 meters deep and located about 20 meters from the victim’s house.

According to police investigations, the victim had been drinking with his brother, Haydin Ariola, on August 7 but did not return home and his family believes he must have fallen due to intoxication and drowned.

2 construction workers nabbed for stealing construction materials

TWO construction workers were arrested for stealing bags of cement and steel bars with a combined value of P50,000 from their workplace in the town of Basista.

The owner of the establishment, Beatriz Soriano Bugayong, 72, a resident of Barangay Osmeña Sr., Basista, noticed that the materials were depleting rapidly.  CCTV footage confirmed the theft by the suspects, Roland Diaz Fernandez, 41, and Joel Sanchez Maniling, 27, both from Bayambang. Both suspects are now in custody and will face charges.

Top wanted man nabbed over P60K worth of illegal drugs seized

ALFIE Cazar Carreon, a 40-year-old resident of Salud Bolinao and a top priority high-value individual, was arrested after police seized over P60,000 worth of illegal drugs from his possession.

Police conducted a search at the suspect’s residence with a warrant, discovering 9.05 grams of suspected shabu. The operation was recorded using a built-in video camera.

Poultry worker stabbed by drunk colleague

A poultry worker sustained three deep wounds on his shoulder, back, and arm after being stabbed with a knife by a drunken colleague in the town of Laoac.

The victim, Cristan Elegado Coloma, was on his way home from work with a colleague when the suspect, John Jano Ramos Ramos, a fellow resident, shouted offensive words at him, which lead to an argument and eventually the stabbing.  The victim was rushed to a hospital in Urdaneta City, while the suspect was quickly apprehended and detained.

LGU employee charged with theft after taking student’s wallet

AN LGU employee is facing theft charges after allegedly taking a wallet that a student had dropped in Urdaneta City. Lovelyn Rachell Drapeza Zonio, 24, from Barangay Linmansangan, Binalonan, sought police assistance after she realized that her wallet must have fallen as she dismounted from a motorcycle in Barangay Poblacion, Urdaneta City.

CCTV footage from the area showed the suspect, Clarkson Sanchez Amolacion, 52, a resident of Barangay Cabuloan, Urdaneta City, picking up the wallet. When the police located Amolacion, they recovered the wallet, but the cash was missing.
