TWO public secondary schools in Pangasinan brought honor to the province and country when they clinched multiple awards at the International Exhibit for Young Inventors (IEYI) last August 5 held in Taipei, Taiwan.

Competing against 800 innovators from 21 countries, Pangasinan National High Schools’ Team LIYAB, composed of Mark Jarcnel Bandong, Jzea Caronongan, and Ramel Tungpalan wrested a gold and platinum award.

Team DANUM, composed of Marianne Castro, Jimi Kalyx Sision, and Yuan Zaccharry Uy, won a silver medal. Team NALIKAS, represented by Marhianette Hidalgo and Althea Miranda earned a bronze finish alongside Team SEARAPID, consisting of Princess Aquino and Francess Cudal.

Meanwhile, participating for the first time with one entry, the Lasip National High School composed of Mark Erick Dela Cruz and Wayne Xyluv Mina captured a bronze medal after demonstrating their intervention for fruit fly eradication.

“The remarkable achievements of these young Filipino inventors are the testament of their dedication and knowledge in fostering innovation and contribution to the Philippines’ growing stature in the field of science and technology,” PNHS Research adviser Ronnie Absalon said. (Kim Gealogo)
