EIGHTEEN-year-old Angela Eliron of Barangay Malued, Dagupan City asserted her taekwondo mastery and clinched a gold medal in Women’s Taekwondo Lightweight Category during the Luzon ROTC Games at the Tolentino Sports Gym and Activity Center in Tagaytay last August 1.

Eliron remained unscathed in the lightweight division with a 2-0 record after disposing her rival jins from Tanauan Institute Inc. and PHINMA-Saint Jude College Manila.

The first-year aircraft maintenance technology student at WCC Aeronautical College in Binalonan said that her training on new techniques and strategies in actual games paid off.

“I didn’t expect winning the gold because I felt that my preparation was a bit short but I recalled my experiences and executed the skills that I’ve learned to gather my composure,” said Eliron, who is mentored by head coaches David Gallenito, Franklin Soriano and Irian Soriano of WCC Skyhawks Taekwondo.

She is set to compete in the National ROTC Games on August 18 to 24 in Indang, Cavite. (Kim Gealogo)
