VMUF bags 6 gold in 2nd Luzon ROTC Games

MEMBERS of the Virgen Milagrosa University Foundation (VMUF) Panthers Track and Field team once again showcased their running prowess after bagging 6 gold and 2 silver medals in the 2nd Philippine Regional Reserve Officers Training Corps (ROTC) Games Luzon Leg on July 30 at the Cavite State University in Indang, Cavite.

Nineteen-year-old Mary Rose Frias clocked a personal best time of 5:07.2 in the women’s 1,500-meter run to capture the team’s first gold medal ahead of teammate Mary Anne Delos Reyes who logged in 5:30.3.

Other gold medalists were Guhan Garcia (2nd set semis 200m run, 2nd set final 200m run), John Lloyd Velasco (3rd set semis 20m run), Geremae Domalanta (2nd set final 200m run), and Edu Garibay (men’s 1,500m run).

Lloyd Velasco secured a silver finish in the 2nd set of 200-meter run while Mary Anne Delos Reyes duplicated the same feat in the 1,500-meter dash.

Training under the mentorship of head coach Dante Camaso and assistant coach Kimberly Moneda, the VMUF Panthers Track and Field team will represent Region I in the ROTC National Finals scheduled on August 18 to 24, also in Indang, Cavite. (Kim Gealogo)
