THE Pangasinan provincial government confirmed that the piece of land in Arellano St., Dagupan City where the Region 1 Medical Center (R1MC) stands is owned by the provincial government.

This was stated in the Resolution No. 670-2024 passed by the Sangguniang Panlalawigan and authored by Third District Board Member Shiela Marie Baniqued, titled “Informing the Department of Health and other concerned agencies that the lot being occupied by the Region 1 Medical Center is a property of the provincial government of Pangasinan”.

The resolution was passed in connection with the provincial government’s initiation of the process of formulating and developing the master development plan for the entire province including the inventory of all its provincial government properties, enabling the SP “to have a clearer picture of the physical status of other properties owned by the province including the R1MC and come up with a master development plan that could best guide not only the present administration but for future generations”.

The R1MC, originally known as Pangasinan Provincial Hospital, was established in 1925 under the administration of then Provincial Governor, Don Teofilo Sison, it added.

The resolution cited R.A. 7160 or the Local Government Code of 1991 and, specifically, Section 468 (a) (1) that directs the SP provide a mechanism and appropriate funds therefore to ensure the safety and protection of all provincial government property, public documents, or records such as those relating to property inventory, land ownership, records of births, marriages, deaths, assessments, taxation, accounts, business permits and such other records and documents of public interest in the offices and departments of the provincial government.”

Copies of the approved resolution were furnished Gov. Ramon Guico III, DOH and R1MC and other agencies concerned for their information and guidance. (Eva Visperas)
