Vegetable prices lower in Dagupan market

THE price of vegetables in the Malimgas Public Market was a bit lower last week than previous week’s prices, according to a recent price survey conducted by IFM Dagupan.

Carrots were sold at P50 per kilo; cabbage sold from P30 to P40 per kilo; eggplants sourced from local farms in Pangasinan, P50 per kilo. However, tomatoes which were scarce for weeks because of the rainy season, P160 per kilo.  (Mathew Pacheco)

Puto production in Calasiao to be reduced 

DUE to the apparent slack in the sale of puto on account of the rainy season, producers are set to reduce their daily production in a bid to minimize their losses.

Puto producers said not only are there few buyers of puto but the prices of rice, white sugar and others have soared. They said, coupled with rising costs of labor and fuel, the situation poses a difficult period for entrepreneurs in the puto industry. (Mark Espinoza)

R1MC assures blood supply for its patients 

THE Region 1 Medical Center in Dagupan City assured it has enough supply of blood for all its patients in need of it. The assurance was made by Dr. Chino Paolo Samson, R1MC Medical Officer III, during the recent Blood Donor Recruitment, Selection and Screening Seminar at the hospital.

He said R1MC has collected 6,546 units of blood from 70% of donor-volunteers. (Thirty percent of the volunteers did not qualify to donate). (Mathew Pacheco)

Lepotospirosis cases lower this year than last year’s 

A marked decrease was noted in the number of people in Pangasinan afflicted with leptospirosis from January to July this years compared to last year’s cases for the same period.

Records of the Provincial Health Office showed there were five confirmed leptospirosis cases already recorded this year, one each in San Fabian, Bugallon, Basista, Umingan and Alaminos City. Two died. (Jam Victorio)

Heavy traffic continues in Dagupan as road construction are still ongoing 

HEAVY traffic continued in the streets of Dagupan on account of the ongoing road elevation and construction of drainage system along M.H. Del Pilar Street. The Public Order and Safety Office diverted public utility vehicles bound for the east and north directions towards the narrow PNR Road.

Meanwhile, road elevation along A.B. Fernandez Avenue is entering its final phase while work on Perez Boulevard continues.  Work on Arellano Streets appeared to have already been completed. (Joana de Vera)

110 Dagupeños receive AICS

INDIGENT families received financial aid from the Department of Social Welfare and Development under the program Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS).

DSWD said AICS addressed the problems of the beneficiaries concerning their medical and livelihood needs and also to pay for their other necessities. (Rona Racca)

Manaoag LGU intervenes for scholars problems

MANAOAG local government decided to intervene and help clarify for students whose scholarships were rejected by a local college where they were enrolled.

Mayor Jeremy Agerico Rosario welcomed the complaining students to his office and immediately mediated a dialogue between them and the college concerned about the scholarships guaranteed by the Commission on Higher Education. Failing to reach an agreement, Rosario said he will appeal the matter with CHEd.
