Dagupan’s Santiago champ in national bowling open

MARVIN Santiago of the Dagupan Tenpin Bowling Inc. captured the championship in the Men’s Graded Masters Finals during the national bowling open marking the 19th PTBA-Crown Pipes Open Championship held on July 19 at Pladium Bowling Center in Quezon City last July 19.

Santiago, 47, scored 1,594 pinfalls in eight games, scoring an average of 199 pinfalls per game, to win the championship in the prestigious tournament participated in by top bowlers from across the country.

His DATBI teammate Ramil Bonus was third runner up with an overall score of 1,549, followed by Santiago’s son Russel, 26, who wound up fourth runner up with an aggregate score of 1,522.

The elder Santiago struggled with poor scoring during his first game but came back strong in his successive games to win the championship and the trophy that went with it.

Another DATBI players who saw action in the tournament was Matt Barredo who salvaged 10th place with an overall score of 1,469. (Leonardo Micua)
