Nazareth General Hospital holds ‘fun run’ for Diabetes Awareness Month

THE Nazareth General Hospital is set to organize a Fun Run on July 20, as one of its activities in the observance of Diabetes Awareness Month.

Dr. Irene Catambing-Dampil, an expert in entrepreneurship and diabetology at the Nutrition and Diabetes Clinic of Nazareth General Hospital, the ‘Fun Run’ will feature three categories: 3k, 5k, and 10k runs and the assembly time for the event will be at 4:00 AM at the CSI Stadia Helipad.

Dampil emphasized that household chores alone are insufficient exercise. In the Philippines, and many people have diabetes without realizing it because some cases are asymptomatic.

Structured exercise, with proper form, is essential for improving overall health. Unlike household tasks, exercise engages all muscle groups and can achieve a target heart rate.

She stressed the importance of incorporating exercise into daily routines, even in small amounts. The recommended frequency is 2-3 times a day.

Before the Fun Run begins, participants will warm up with a combat Zumba session. Walk-ins are welcome to join the event.

The hospital already conducted a Diabetes summit and sugar level checks. (Ahikam Pasion)
