Barangay secretary nabbed in drug-bust ops

ROEL Calma Sinlao, a barangay secretary residing in Brgy. Gueteb, Urbiztondo, was arrested in a recent anti-illegal drugs buy-bust operation conducted by the police in Barangay Cabison-Bulaney-Niog (CBN), Mangatarem town.

Confiscated from him were two packages of suspected shabu weighing 2.21 grams with ₱15,028 street value, marked money used in the transaction, cellphone, and a motorcycle.

Sinlao is currently in the custody of the Mangatarem police, while the evidence is being analyzed at the Pangasinan Provincial Forensic Unit in Lingayen.

 

Two men arrested in separate drugbust ops

TWO male suspects involved in drug trafficking were arrested in separate locations in the province. The buy-bust operation in Brgy. Nilombot, Sta. Barbara, resulted in the arrest of a Street Level Individual (SLI) Gilmarc Geslani Fernandez, a 42-year-old resident of Brgy. Malanay, Sta. Barbara. Seized from him was a package of suspected shabu that weighed 0.15 grams already with the PNP forensic units for proper validation.

Suspect named Eddie De Vera Valdez, alias “GALAT,” 40-year-old resident of Sitio Aliguas, Brgy. Libsong East, Lingayen, was arrested in a buy-bust operation along Bypass Road in Brgy. Libsong East, Lingayen. The confiscated illegal drug weighed 0.5 grams and had a ₱3,400 street value.

 

Man drowns after fishing raft capsizes in San Carlos City

A fishing incident turned tragic when a man drowned after the raft he was using capsized in the middle of a river. The victim, Romnick Lazaga Vilda, 34 years old and a resident of Barangay Quetegan, Urbiztondo, with six others crossed the river on the makeshift raft to catch fish but the raft overturned.

Fortunately, the other passengers—all minors—managed to swim safely to the riverbank. Romnick did not know how to swim. His remains were later found a day after the incident. Investigation showed the raft was overloaded, as it could only accommodate four passengers.

 

Hijacked truck from La Union found in Aguilar

AUTHORITIES recovered a missing hijacked trailer truck that originated from Brgy. Amlang, Rosario, La Union, on July 4, around 11:30 PM, while the truck was traveling along Romulo Highway. The incident was promptly reported to the police, who immediately notified all nearby PNP stations, including those in Pangasinan.

Initial investigation showed police officers on patrol noticed an abandoned trailer truck parked in the compound of Municipal Engineer Ralph Ian Madriguera in Aguilar. The truck was left behind by two unidentified men—presumably the driver and a companion.

 

Buy-bust operation seized P200,000 shabu

AUTHORITIES seized 29 grams of suspected shabu in a successful drug buy-bust operation conducted by the Philippine National Police (PNP) in Brgy. Poblacion District 4, Pozorrubio.

Arrested was Nicanor Callanta Bueno Jr., alias “Rujon,” a 28-year-old street-level individual, residing in Brgy. San Pablo, Santa Maria town.
Seized from him were suspected shabu in seven packages with an estimated P197,200.00 street value, homemade pistol, two .22 caliber bullets, a belt bag, and a cellphone in the suspect’s possession. He is facing charges for violating Article II, Sections 5 and 11 of Republic Act No. 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002).

 

Thieves yank resort items

POLICE are investigating a robbery in a resort in Barangay Aserda, Mapandan town that reportedly lost 315 folding tables worth P1,260,000; 387 plastic chairs valued at P253,485; audio equipment consisting of videoke speakers, amplifiers, and computer set valued at P750,000.

Initial police investigation showed the suspects gained entry by breaking glass windows and doors. Authorities are reviewing CCTV footages to identify the culprits.
