Road height proposed by city engineers prevail
THE height of the road from the Dagupan City National High School (DCNHS) through YMCA and up to Nazareth Hospital as measured by the City Engineering Office, not by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), will be used for the elevation of the road.
In a press conference shortly after delivering her State of the City Address at CSI Stadia, Mayor Belen. Fernandez said that in a meeting between Dagupan City officials and DPWH engineers, attended by members of the private sector at city hall, they agreed that the measurements made by the office of City Engineer Josephine Corpuz will be followed.
The city engineering office wants only 0.6 meter high in the road fronting the DCNHS, while only one meter in front of Union Bank, and 0.6 meter in front of YMCA. In brief, it will only be 06 meter high all the way up to Nazareth General Hospital.
DPWH’s measurements are much higher: 0.8 meter in front of DCNHS, 1.4 meter in front of Union Bank, and 1.2 meters in front of YMCA
Fernandez said among those who attended the meeting was Boopsie Siapno, a property developer.
The outflow of the drainage systems in this road to be elevated will end up at the Pantal River through the Nazareth General Hospital. The drainage system will still be one to two inches higher than the road.
Earlier, Fernandez questioned the height measurements proposed by DPWH because if followed, most city roads in the downtown area will be submerged during the rainy season.
She said the project will finally address the third and last flood-prone area in Dagupan, the first two are the intersection of A.B. Fernandez Avenue, M.H. Del Pilar and Arellano Street, while the intersection of M.H. del Pilar and Perez Boulevard are in the works. (Leonardo Micua)
