Capitol pays for PhilHealth premiums of JOs, COS

THE provincial government signed a memorandum of agreement with the Philippine Health (PhilHealth) Insurance Corporation for the Group Enrollment Program (GEP) to cover the five percent PhilHealth premium contributions of its 2,415 job order (JO) and contract of service (COS) workers.

PhilHealth contributions are payments usually made by employees and their employers for their health insurance program covering Filipinos’ medical expenses and these payments are deducted from salaries of employees.

The decision of the provincial government to cover the premium contributions for its JO and COS workers and not deduct these from their monthly salary was made official on June 24, making Pangasinan as the first province in the country to implement such a program.

This sets a new standard in enhancing employee benefits and healthcare coverage.

“You have to take care of your workers. If they are not motivated, then the organization will be affected, Gov. Ramon Guico III said as he cited the importance of acknowledging and supporting the employees of the provincial government. (PIA Pangasinan/ JCDR)
