Pangasinan outlasts Parañaque, 68-60
HEATWAVES’ THIRD WIN IN MPBL
THE Pangasinan Heatwaves ended their four-game losing skid with a win over the Parañaque Patriots, 68-60 last June 1 at their homecourt, the Calasiao Sports Complex.
With Heatwaves’ Ralph Robin and Mark Meneses shooting 8-out-of-12 from the field, both poured five points for Pangasinan in their fiery start to carve an early lead, 21-9.
In the second period, Parañaque’s JP Sarao stopped the Heatwaves’ surge with his crafty foot works and lay-ups, scoring four points in the post area. Joshua Gallano added five points for the Patriots’ halftime run to tie the game at 34 all.
Heading to the third quarter, Hesed Gabo caught fire with back-to-back triples, shooting 3-3 from beyond the arc to retain the lead for Pangasinan, 48-45.
The Heatwaves relied on its red-hot distance shooting in the fourth frame through Gabo’s fourth-made 3-point bucket reinforced with Ed Daquioag’s two triples.
In the last two-minute mark, Patriots’ Jielo Razon made an uncontested lay-up off the steal to trim the gap to three, 60-63. Heatwaves in the counter, Shaq Taganas threaded a pass to the wide-open Daquioag who connected a three-point dagger to pull-away.
Daquioag and Gabo both tallied 16 points alongside the 11-point contribution of Ralph Robin for Pangasinan.
On the flipside, Parañaque got 13 points from Sarao combined with 10 points, seven rebounds plus four assists from Jielo Razon.
The Heatwaves grabbed their third victory of the 6 th MPBL Season with 3-7 win-loss card, and currently sitting at the 12th spot. (Kim Gealogo)
