THE City Health Office confirmed the order to require all Dagupan City Hall employees to wear face masks in their work places because of the threat of another upsurge of COVID-19.

During the flag ceremony at the city plaza on May 27, City Health Officer Ophelia Rivera said COVID-19 is again on the rise in some parts of the country and overseas, thus the need for all employees to take extra-precaution to protect themselves, hence the order of City Legal Officer and OIC City Administrator Aurora Valle last week “No Face Masks, No Entry”, for all city hall employees and visitors.

While stressing that the order is no cause for alarm, Rivera said anyone who feels unwell because of colds and coughs, should immediately seek medication from the city health office.

Rivera said it will be prudent to bring back the habit of using face masks among city residents because it is already the season for colds and coughs in the Philippines.

Three weeks ago, a positive COVID-19 case was recorded at the General Service Office, prompting Vice Mayor Bryan Kua to order the mandatory wearing of face masks by employees of the Sangguniang Panlungsod, whose office is adjacent to GSO.

The employee who contracted the disease has already recovered after hospitalization and has already gone back to work. No other employee was infected and neither do members of the family of the person who contracted COVID-19 was infected. (Leonardo Micua)
