Dagupan’s 108 R1AA medalists get cash incentives

THE Dagupan City government awarded P150, 000 cash incentives to 108 medalists who saw action and earned for Dagupan a fourth runner-up finish in the 2024 Region 1 Athletic Association (R1AA) Meet held in Laoag City sometime in April this year.

The incentives were handed to the athletes by Mayor Belen Fernandez when they called on her on Thursday, May 30, at the city hall. They were accompanied by Finnela Sim, sports consultant of the Dagupan City government.

Each of the  31 gold medalists were handed P2,000; 29 silver medalists, P1,000 each; and 48 bronze medalists, P500 each.

Dagupan was adjudged the best performing delegation in boxing as well in aero gymnastics in both the elementary and secondary divisions. Each team was given P10,000 cash incentive.

The Dagupan athletes from different public and private schools in Dagupan City saw action in 12 events which included arnis, athletics, boxing, chess, aero gymnastics, swimming, table tennis, tennis, taekwondo, Pencak Silat, wrestling, and wushu. (Leonardo Micua)
