THE Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) Region I removed 300 drivers from the list of fuel subsidy beneficiaries in the region after failing to comply with the consolidation phase of the PUV Modernization Program.

LTFRB R-1 Acting Director Atty. Anabelle Nullar said among them were 37 jeepney owners in Pangasinan were delisted after the April 30 deadline for consolidation.

She said the updated list was already forwarded to LTFRB head office and the Department of Transportation.

It will be recalled that 8,000 drivers in Region I were recipients of the latest fuel subsidy during the final quarter of 2023:  P10,000 fuel subsidy for modernized PUJ and UV Express drivers, while traditional jeepney and TNVS drivers received P6,500.

Nullar said they are still waiting for the funds to be downloaded before the next round of subsidy can be delivered to remaining jeepney owners.

Bernard Tuliao, president of the One Pangasinan Transport Federation (OPTF), said they have no plans to call for fare increase yet, since the previous 3 weeks recorded a sizable decrease in oil prices as well. (Ahikam Pasion)
