THE Department of Labor and Employment awarded P90,114,219 worth of livelihood assistance to 18,835 residents through its “Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers (TUPAD)” during the simultaneous Labor Day Job Fair held in three venues, offering support and hope for disadvantaged or displaced workers in the province, including farmers, fisherfolks, and seasonal workers.

The program provided beneficiaries with meaningful work for a minimum period of 10 days, compensated at minimum wage rates and invaluable skills and experience for community development.

The payouts were done in Dagupan City ( P10,020,510 allocated for 2,170 beneficiaries), in Urdaneta City  (P23,406,939 for 4,870 beneficiaries) and in Lingayen (P56,686,770 for 11,795 beneficiaries).

“The payout venues were strategically chosen to cater to thousands of job seekers within Pangasinan and the efficient distribution of assistance to qualified beneficiaries,” said Ronaldo De Vera, chief administrative officer of DOLE Region 1.

TUPAD offers beneficiaries and their families more than just temporary assistance but to instill a sense of urgency and significance that transcends the typical short-term, provisional, and reactive aid commonly seen. (PIA Pangasinan/ JCR,JCDR,AMB)
