Seven persons bitten by rabies-infected puppy
BEWARE OF CUTE-LOOKING PUPS
SEVEN residents of Barangay Navaluan in Mangaldan town were bitten by a puppy that turned out to be rabies-positive.
The puppy died after biting the victims.
The Regional Animal Disease Diagnostic Laboratory confirmed the specimen’s infection.
Consequently, the town’s Municipal Agriculture Office (MAO) immediately launched a mass vaccination in the barangay’s Purok 3, where the victims reside and an information dissemination drive on rabies in town.
The MHO reported that the bite victims are safe after receiving treatment from an Animal Bite Treatment Center.
Authorities urge all pet owners to be responsible in rearing their pets and must schedule a regular vaccination for their pets, and that they should be on a leash when in public places. (Ahikam Pasion)
