AS we welcome the dawn of 2024, I find it necessary to write about the disheartening situation that characterized my beloved hometown of Binmaley throughout 2023.

I wrote this piece on New Year’s Day with a deep sense of concern for the well-being and future of our town.

The year 2023 saw endless internal conflicts and disputes among our local leaders that overshadowed the harmony we once cherished in our hometown.

I have purposely refrained from engaging in discussions or public events because of the prevailing negativity that dominated our municipality. The incessant fighting, accusations, and discord among local officials have reached an alarming point, that adversely affected our collective well-being, tarnishing the image of our dear Binmaley.

Recently, the media has been rife with negative comments about our town, both in news reports and casual conversations. This left me deeply saddened. The non-stop fighting, shouting matches, and allegations of incompetence and corruption have created an atmosphere of mistrust and animosity.

When will this end? What’s happening to my dear Binmaley?

My dear leaders, we love you, we love our town. We elected you with the hope that you will be the catalysts for positive change, working together harmoniously for the betterment of our town. However, it pains me to witness the division among officials who were once united in purpose. As to the whys behind all these, I don’t want to speculate. It is only you who can account for your conscience. Only you will face the consequences of your actions.

We elected you because we believed in you as our hope for a better future.

In a house where elders do not show respect and love to each other, how could they expect their youngsters to behave well? When there is no harmony in a family, how can you expect to see your kids grow into responsible citizens of this municipality?

In any organization, unity is crucial. The actions of our leaders set the tone for the entire community. As citizens of Binmaley, we look up to you as role models, and we yearn for the unity and cooperation that will inspire a brighter future for our children and grandchildren.

No administration is flawless, and disagreements are inevitable. Yet, I plead you to rise above your personal differences and focus on the greater good for Binmaley. The consequences of discord extend beyond individual reputations. These impact on the prosperity and well-being of our entire community.

Do we aspire to resemble our neighboring city, where the hearts of its leaders are filled with so much hatred that, in the process, the well-being of its people is held hostage?

The people are fed up with infighting. Enough of your quarrelling, please.

Over the past year, it has become increasingly apparent that our municipality is tormented by internal disagreements and conflicts among you, our esteemed local officials. These divisions, if allowed to persist, will further hinder progress, diminish public trust, and ultimately impede the growth and prosperity of our town.

As we usher in the new year, let us bury bitterness in our hearts and rise above political squabbles and personal aggrandizement. Our municipality deserves leaders who prioritize collaboration, progress, and positive change over internal conflicts.

Your children, us citizens of Binmaley, long for your paternal and brotherly love. We’re supposed to be one family, aren’t we?

I urge each of you to set aside your personal differences and prioritize the greater good of our municipality. I’m sure you’re all well aware that the challenges we face require a collective and concerted effort to find solutions that will pave the way for a brighter future.

I understand that forgiveness may seem challenging, but it is essential for the healing of our town. Choose love over hatred, and let Binmaley be a beacon of peace for all. Focus your energies on initiatives that benefit every resident, and let 2024 be a year marked by unity, progress, and the collective well-being of Binmaley.

We all deserve to have peace. We all want love. Let there be peace on earth and let it begin with us.#
