Six arrested in Dagupan drug den
MORE than P100,000 worth of shabu were seized recently in a drug den operated by a couple in Sitio Aling, Barangay Pantal in Dagupan City. PDEA Provincial Director Richie Camacho said that the couple and four others were arrested during an early morning raid on the drug den. He confirmed that the drug den had long been placed under surveillance before they applied for search warrant with the court on the establishment.
Camacho said more than P4 million pose worth of shabu were already seized in Pangasinan by PDEA since January this year. (Badz Agtalao)

Pangasinan Balay Silangan hailed
THE recent opening of the Pangasinan Balay Silangan in Burgos town is seen as a big boon to the campaign against illegal drugs in the province.
According to Richie Camacho, PDEA provincial director in Pangasinan, the provincial Balay Silangan can accommodate 88 convicted drug users and pushers whose jail sentence are reduced by the courts through the plea bargaining agreement and are willing to be rehabilitated. Meanwhile, more LGUs in Pangasinan have expressed their desire to sign a memorandum of agreement with his office for the establishment of their own Balay Silangan. (Badz Agtalao)

Increase in advanced booking in buses seen
TRAVELERS and visitors planning to travel starting January 1 next year have started to make an advanced booking with different bus companies to avoid long queues and crowded terminals in Dagupan starting New Year’s day and onward.
Bus companies in Dagupan City admit already receiving more reservations by travelers twp. weeks before January 1. (Joanna de Vera)

Firecrackers vendors securing permits, clearances
LOCAL vendors have started applying for permits and clearances to sell firecrackers legally with the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) as the ‘Oplan Iwas Paputok’ campaign was launched by the BFP Pangasinan.
BFP Provincial Information officer Ciara Capule said the campaign aims to prevent any injury during the celebration of Christmas and New Year by ensuring that standard protocols and rules are observed at all times by fire cracker manufacturers, to vendors and the revelers. (Joana de Vera)

Pangasinenses prepare for Misa de Gallo
AS early as December 13, devout Catholics in Pangasinan already started preparing plans for their traditional midnight masses and Misa de Gallo in churches near in their communities that start on December 16. The police have deployed personnel at the vicinity of churches to ensure the safety of all mass goers.
The Church, however, reminded that the Misa de Gallo is a religious event that reflects on the true meaning of Jesus being born on a manger in Bethlehem, and not turn it into a social event. (John Caranto)
