78 Mangaldan farmers get P747K from of crop insurance
SOME 78 registered farmers in Mangaldan received their indemnity checks with a total worth of P474,797 crop insurance from the Philippine Crop Insurance Corporation (PCIC), in coordination with the local government, in a ceremony held on December 6 at the Farmers’ Training Center.
The recipients received their insurance benefits based on the extent of damages on their crops caused by past typhoons and pest infestation.
Sharon Castor, District IV field personnel of PCIC Region 1 and the Municipal Agriculture Office led by Municipal Agriculturist Merle Sali, urged farmers to enlist in PCIC for crop insurance coverage of their crops and animals against losses arising from natural calamities, plant diseases and pest infestations.
The recipients of the insurance coverage thanked the PCIC for the financial support which they can use as additional fund for their farming.
Mayor Bona Fe De Vera-Parayno acknowledged the big help of the PCIC extended to the town farmers and urged other unregistered farmers in the town to register as soon as possible for their protection. (Eva Visperas)
