Alaminos’ public market construction starts next year
NEW CITY HALL TO FOLLOW
ALAMINOS City will finally have its own public market early next year following the approval of a P300-million loan to finance the project.
The city government identified a seven-hectare lot along the bypass area leading to Mabini town as the site for the new public market to kickstart a stimulus for economic development.
“With the approval of the loan, the construction will start,” said Mayor Arth Celeste. He said the loan will cover both the costs of land acquisition and construction.
He said he expects the construction of a a two-story public market to finish in 2026 to replace the public market razed by fire more than ten years ago. The site of the old public market will be used by a private mall.
Meanwhile, Mayor Celeste revealed plans for the construction of a new city hall also along the bypass road area.
“If you want to develop something, “you have to have the stimulus… kaya namin talaga binalak yung hindi lang sya yung bumili kami ng lupa and magpapatayo ng city hall,” Celeste said.
Mayor Celeste underscored the importance of providing a stimulus and cited the development of the Bonifacio Global City, citing the economic boost it brought to Taguig City and he expressed hope that similar improvements will benefit the local community and private landowners.
While the existing city hall will remain operational, Mayor Celeste indicated that the majority of major offices will be relocated to the new city hall.
The construction of this new city hall is part of the comprehensive plan to be funded by a total P800-million loan secured by the city government, to include the public market. (Eva Visperas)
