Two local broadcasters apologize to Lambino family
TWO local broadcasters have offered their “sincere and profound apology” to then Secretary Raul L. Lambino and former Mangaldan Mayor Mary Marilyn DG. Lambino for false allegations of committing rape, maltreating and causing physical injuries to a housemaid.
The letter of apology, copy of which was furnished to The PUNCH on November 23, was jointly issued by Orlando Navarro of DWIZ Dagupan and Tito Tamayo of Radyo Pangasinan over commentaries they made last year. It acknowledged that after review and verification, there were no actual cases against the Lambinos that were in progress in any court of law or in the Office of the Ombudsman.
“These allegations against the family of Lambino were clear fabrications and fake news,” it added.
Navarro and Tamayo admitted that “it is with great compunction on their part “that they have made statements, remarks or comments regarding the said cases in their radio programs, aired live also over Facebook, “without prior verification about the truth or falsity thereof.”
They acknowledged that they had caused damage and prejudice to the honor and person of the Lambino family in making such statements, remarks or comments. “I am extending my repenting stance to the family of Lambino and undertake not to commit the same transgression upon the honor and person of anybody,” the two added in their joint letter of apology.
They also attest to the integrity and propriety in public service of the Lambino family and to the humility, decency, and respect they have shown in their private dealings.
“I humbly apologize,” Navarro said. (Eva Visperas)
