“UNITY in the entire city.  “This is the call of Dagupan City Mayor Belen Fernandez during the mass oath-taking ceremony for the recently elected barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan officials at CSI Stadia on November 8.

A total of 493 officials: 31 Barangay chairpersons, 217 kagawads, 31 SK chairpersons, and 217 SK kagawads, took their oaths of office.

Mayor Fernandez, addressing the newly elected officials, underscored the need for barangay and SK officials to uplift lives trapped in poverty and without opportunities.

“Together, we may form one united political front,” she said, confident with the expression of support for her administration by many elected and reelected officials, stressing “that unity is crucial in overcoming challenges, particularly amid an economic crisis and efforts to impede the city’s growth.”

Fernandez cited setbacks her administration encountered engineered by the majority bloc in the Sangguniang Panlungsod and appealed to the newly inducted officials to “journey with the administration in transforming Dagupan City into a community deserving of its people.”

She also urged them to exercise their power with “fairness, prudence, competence, high ethical standards, and fidelity to the people’s trust.”

The mass oath-taking ceremony was witnessed by Vice Mayor Bryan Kua, Councilors Michael Fernandez, Jeslito Seen, Dennis Canto, outgoing SK Federation Chairperson Joshua Bugayong, and DILG city director Royolita Rosario. (Leonardo Micua)
