School in Sta Barbara town gets bomb scare
A BOMB caused panic among students and faculty at the Daniel Maramba National High School (DMNHS) in Santa Barbara town, prompting a swift response from school administrators and police authorities.
School administrators received bomb threat on Monday, November 6 as a private message posted from a dummy Facebook account named “Eric Dump” on the DMNHS Facebook Page during school’s flag raising ceremony.
‘Mag iingat kayong lahat danielistas dahil may nilagay kaming bomba sa loob ng daniel lahat ng room ay pwede sumabog isa isa kahit saan nyo hanapin yang bomba di nyo yan makikita 7:00-7:30 ng umaga pwede yan sumabog ingat…”
This was confirmed by P/LtCol. Jun Wacnag, Sta. Barbara chief of police, and in response to the threat, students were sent home, and the school premises were cordoned off for safety while authorities conducted a search to locate the alleged bomb.
The search yielded negative results, and no explosive device was found.
Police authorities are currently investigating the identity of the person who posted the bomb threat.
Bomb threats are considered a serious matter and are punishable by law.
According to Presidential Decree 1727, also known as the Anti-Bomb Joke Law, those found guilty of making bomb threats can face up to five years in prison.
Authorities emphasized that bomb threats should not be taken lightly, whether they originate from disgruntled students or adults, as they pose serious threats to public safety. (Ahikam Pasion)
