THE surveying and property acquisition for the construction of a commercial airport in Bolinao to be funded by an omnibus loan availed by the provincial government from the Land Bank of the Philippines (LBP), are currently underway.

Vice Governor Mark Lambino said the provincial government is also considering allocating space within the Bolinao airport for the Philippine Coast Guard.

“This integrated approach aims to improve the Coast Guard’s monitoring and response capabilities, especially in the West Philippine Sea and the coastal waters of western Luzon and Pangasinan,” said Lambino.

He said Governor Ramon Guico III has been meeting the appropriate authorities regarding the plan integrating the Coast Guard’s air unit, into the Bolinao airport masterplan.

The proposed Bolinao airport will have a 2,000-meter runway, suitable for large aircrafts like the Airbus A330. “This development will significantly enhance the Coast Guard’s capabilities for search and rescue operations and monitoring activities, particularly in the westernmost portion of Pangasinan,” concluded Lambino.
