ACTO backs suspended LTFRB Chairman Guadiz

THE Alliance of Concerned Transport Organizations (ACTO) expressed support for suspended Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) Chairman Teofilo Guadiz III. ACTO National President Liberty de Luna attested that Chairman Guadiz is a “good person” and conveyed their group’s intention to send a manifesto to President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. in support of Guadiz III. He was suspended due to allegations of corruption by a whistleblower who later on recanted his statement that originally implicated Guadiz, Transportation Secretary Jaime Bautista, and an unnamed Malacañang official. Modernized jeepneys implement fare hike

SEVERAL modernized jeepneys in Dagupan City have started charging the newly approved one-peso provisional fare increase, as approved by the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB). Traditional jeepneys have yet to implement the fare increase in the city. Modernized jeepney drivers explained that they are following LTFRB guidelines and passengers have willingly paid the additional fare. (Badz Agtalao)

TUPAD program to help Bayambang flood victims

IN Bayambang, 202 typhoon victims are undergoing validation to determine their eligibility as beneficiaries of the Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers (TUPAD) program by the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE).

TUPAD provides 10-day emergency employment to typhoon victims, with compensation of P4,000 each. The work assigned to beneficiaries involves cleaning canals, waterways, and rivers to minimize flooding during the typhoon season. (Mark Espinoza)

Alcala LGU provides financial aid to 1,943 scholars

THE Alcala municipal government distributed financial assistance to 1,943 students in the town who are enrolled in various universities and colleges in Pangasinan.

These students come from low-income families and the financial assistance is intended to “help them continue their studies without worrying about tuition fees and expenses.” (Badz Agtalao)

DOH-CHD 1 calls on public to avail free mental health services

The Department of Health-Center for Health Development 1 (DOH-CHD 1) encouraged the public in Region 1 to avail of free online mental health services as part of the World Mental Health Day celebration.

Cursory data reveal that suicide is one of the common causes of death, often linked to mental health issues, family relations, financial matters, and health. Psychosis, child and adolescent mental and behavioral disorders, anxiety, depression, and epilepsy are some common mental illnesses in the region. . (Mark Espinoza)

104 Sta. Barbara residents receive DSWD aid

THE Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), in coordination with the Sta. Barbara municipal government provided financial assistance to 100 residents of the town through the Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS) program.

The LGU and DSWD said proper validation was conducted to ensure that beneficiaries are those who need state assistance the most. (Badz Agtalao)

Man stabbed dead in Malasiqui

KENNETH Ballesteros, a 34-year-old man, was stabbed to death in Malasiqui town. The assailant, Brian Tenorio, managed to escape and is now the subject of a manhunt by the Malasiqui police.

The motive for the attack remains unknown. Ballesteros was found by bystanders drenched in his own blood and was declared dead upon arrival at the hospital. . (Mark Espinoza)
