Price of tomato up by P40
THE average Juan dela Cruz in Pangasinan can only sigh in frustration as tomato was already being sold for P160 per kilo, from the usual P120 per kilo in markets.
The price was confirmed by the prevailing retail prices of agricultural and fishery products released by the Department of Agriculture (DA) Region 1 that noted that the price of tomato in Ilocos Norte was P200.
The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) explained that the rise in price was due to the drop in production of agriculture and fishery products during the first half of 2023. (Ahikam Pasion)
