Modern jeepneys ply Manaoag-Dagupan route next week

MODERNIZED jeepneys serving the Manaoag-Dagupan route will be launched in Manaoag this week, according to Mayor Jeremy Agerico Rosario.

Rosario told IFM Radio Dagupan that this is in response to the clamor of many commuters from Manaoag that the town should already have its own modernized jeepneys to serve them, like modern jeepneys serving the Pozorrubio-Dagupan route to serve Pozorrubio residents.

Rosario reported there is another group of jeepney drivers and operators planning to  organize as a transport cooperative to serve the Manaoag to Urdaneta route.

Pedicab drivers don’t charge higher fares

PEDICAB drivers in Dagupan admit they will not impose high fare rates on their passengers for ferrying them through flooded streets in the city.

They readily admit that they have no regular permit to ply major thoroughfares in the city and can only carry passengers through barangay streets.

They admitted that they don’t charge high fares because they just want to help stranded commuters and just earn a little.

They grinned when they said commuters refuse to wade in the flood for fear of getting infected by leptospirosis, while they don’t have the luxury to use rubber boots to pedal their bikes.

An ordinary pedicab driver nowadays earns P200 a day.

Rice retailers in Mangaldan close shop

ALMOST all rice retailers in Mangaldan stopped selling rice as they cannot sell at price caps level set by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., P41 per kilo for regular-milled rice and P45 per kilo for well-milled rice.

During the first day of the implementation of Executive Order No, 39, only a few retailers at the Mangaldan Public Market opened their stalls.

The rice retailers said they would incur huge losses if they comply with the price cap because they bought their stocks from their usual suppliers at much higher prices.

LGU Mangaldan expressed its desire to help rice retailers comply with E.O. 39.
