BIG businesses in Dagupan City want the ongoing road elevation and construction of higher and bigger drainage system by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) in Dagupan City to continue.

The latest to affirm its unequivocal support to the ongoing DPWH projects is SM Center Dagupan on M.H. del Pilar Street, after Nepo Mall and Phinma-University of Pangasinan, both on Arellano Street, earlier manifested their support.

Rona Vida Correa, SM regional information manager, called on Mayor Belen Fernandez at city hall last Wednesday, to convey SM Center Dagupan’s full support to the DPWH projects.

Correa, accompanied by a technical team from SM Center Dagupan composed of Eileen de los Santos, Lester de Guzman and Christopher Sanchez said SM will fully cooperate with DPWH, Pamana and Decorp so that not a single hour is wasted to complete the  construction of the projects on M.H. del Pilar Street.

Nepo Mall’s manager Walurich Dacanay and her staff called on Mayor Fernandez two weeks ago to express their 100% support to the ongoing flood mitigation projects along Nepo Mall’s location on Arellano Street.

However, she expressed concern over an extended timetable to complete the projects because this will affect activities of its tenants at the mall.

Meanwhile, Phinma-UPang’s chief operating officer Albert Gamboa belied the claim of the  majority in the Sangguniang Panlungsod that the university is not supporting the flood mitigation project.

“On the contrary, I am in favor of the project. In fact, we are now preparing our plan to connect our drainage system to the drainage canal being built by DPWH,” Gamboa said during his call on Mayor Fernandez last week.
