Class opening, BSKE CoC filing in Pangasinan ‘generally peaceful’ – PPPO
DESPITE the simultaneous launching of first day of classes in public schools and the start of the Election period, the Pangasinan Police Provincial Office (PPPO) described the situation in the province ‘generally peaceful’, with no untoward incidents related to the two events recorded.
This was confirmed by P/Capt. Renan dela Cruz, PPPO spokesperson in an interview Thursday, August 31.
The PNP launched its ‘Ligtas Balik Eskwela’ campaign for the opening of 1,364 public elementary and secondary public schools in the province with no problems, i.e., no petty crimes such as snatching, theft, or robbery related to school opening was reported.
While there was a lack of PNP personnel to watch the public schools and the filing of certificates of candidacy and the simultaneous random COMELEC checkpoints, Dela Cruz said they managed both situations under control with the help of force multipliers.
P/Col. Jeff Fanged, PPPO director had ordered the deployment of uniformed policemen in the vicinity of public schools to secure the students’ safety.
Dela Cruz said the police presence in public schools will continue throughout the school year. (Ahikam Pasion)
