Linggo ng Kabataan celebrated to launch green revolution

THE San Carlos City government celebrated Linggo ng Kabataan 2023 last week with the theme, ‘’Green Skills for Youth: Towards a Sustainable World” spearheaded by the Local Youth Development Office and sanctioned by the Sangguniang Kabataan Federation and the Youth Formation Division.

The weeklong activity, launched at the Speaker Eugenio Perez National Agricultural School, sought to recognize young Filipino leaders and aspirants who made remarkable contributions to their communities and acknowledging exemplary youth organizations in the province.

It started with a parade by members of the SK Federation headed by Councilor Francisco Valerio, Little City Officials, Gawad Julian Finalists, Supreme Student Leaders Government, Yes-O Club, SDRRM of SEPNAS, and SSC-PSU San Carlos.

In his remarks, San Carlos City Mayor Julier “Ayoy” Resuello gave accent on youth involvement in agricultural and environmental advocacies in the city, and urged the students to help make the city a more sustainable and a place that can provide job opportunities through the agricultural medium.

Ace John Mark Liwanag, the keynote speaker, said that in order to create a Green Revolution, everyone should possess the necessary green skills and continuously apply it in the community.

Among the activities held were: EDU-AKSYON: SK Educational Cash Assistance Program Pre-Assessment, SanCa-GUHIT! Poster Slogan Making Contest, Youth Convergence: Dissemination of Agricultural Green Skills and Agrillenials at Agri-nihan, where the discussion on urban and backyard gardening was held, followed by Community Plant-tree wherein the youths planted different fruit-bearing tree seedlings.
