Sen. Imee Marcos: Pangasinan not benefitting from RSBSA
SENATOR Imee Marcos urged farmers and fisherfolks to register with the Registry System for the Basic Sectors in Agriculture (RSBSA) after noting that only a small number are benefitting from the Department of Agriculture’s (DA) program providing interventions.
In a press conference in Urbiztondo on Aug. 21, the presidential sister urged mayors and congressmen to be mindful of the RSBSA list of farmers as it is already outdated.
She noted that although Pangasinan has a huge population but very few farmers and fishermen are listed in RSBSA, an electronic compilation of basic information about farmers, farm workers, fisherfolk and agri-youth that serves as the basis for availing DA interventions.
She said for the yearly importation of agri-products the country undertakes, part of it is earmarked for local farmers to assist farmers, i.e, P5,000 cash assistance each and fertilizer subsidy of P4,000 each plus transport subsidy for fishermen listed for 2022 with P8-billion fund.
“The RSBSA this year is P12-billion”, she added.
Marcos said the list emanates from the DA but it is already quite outdated.
Based on the list she recently saw, she said Region 1 is getting less because it has only few listed unlike in Regions 3 and 4-A that received a much bigger share.
“Tapos tinitingnan ko Pangasinan andami daming tao bakit kakarampot lang…,” she said.
Farmers and fisherfolks can register for RSBSA their respective Municipal or City Agriculture Office.
Meanwhile, the senator said the increase in price of rice is only seasonal and it happens in July to August.
But she is optimistic, rice price will have a roll back by October as it is harvest time again. (Eva Visperas)
