216 barangays in 20 towns flooded in Pangasinan
THERE were 216 barangays in 20 towns and cities in Pangasinan that were affected by flood spawned by monsoon rains triggered by Typhoon Egay.
This was based on the monitoring of the Provincial Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) that also reported that 29 of these barangays are from Dagupan City.
PDRRMO continues to assess situations in flooded barangays as LGUs are aided by the Department of Social Welfare and Development and other concerned government agencies, including non-government organizations are yet conducting relief operations in these flooded areas.
Dagupan City and the towns of Sta. Barbara, Calasiao, Mangatarem, Mangaldan, Lingayen and Basista declared the state of calamity.

It’s ‘Back to business’ in Dagupan City
MORE than a week after the widespread flood spawned by Typhoon Egay, followed by days of monsoon rains, ambulant vendors who stopped selling when their area was submerged in almost knee-deep water returned to the streets in Dagupan City to resume their trade.
At the height of the flood, only “kuligligs” and bancas commuted residents but were reported to be charging exorbitant fare to their passengers.
Jeepneys and tricycles chose not to ply for fear that they would conk out in the middle of rising floodwaters.

Even fishermen who moored their bancas to shore to shelter them from the wrath of the typhoon, were seen setting out to sea to resume their offshore fishing activities.

Vendors also seek “ayuda” from DSWD
AMBULANT vendors who lost their daily earnings because of the flood that submerged most of the barangays of the city appealed to the national government through the Dagupan City government for calamity assistance or ayuda.
They said they did not receive any financial help from the DSWD’s Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS) program, similar to what tricycle drivers and operators received.
They said they submitted their names to the City Market Division in the hope that the list will be submitted by the city hall to DSWD. But that didn’t happen.
