Four Dagupan athletes bring home 1 silver, 3 bronze medals from Palaro
FOUR Dagupan City athletes came home with one silver and three bronze medals when they represented Region 1 in the weeklong Palarong Pambansa in Marikina City from July 30 to August 5.
The lone silver medal was won by Angela Joy Eliron, a student of the Dagupan City National High School, who competed in Taekwondo (secondary).
Meanwhile, Mark Rioflorido of Lyceum Northwestern University clinched the bronze medal in swimming (secondary) while Marc Steven Laureta of PAMMA Learning Center and Justine Miguel Erpelo of University of Pangasinan PHINMA were bronze medalists in tennis doubles (secondary).
Upon their return from the Palarong Pambansa, the four athletes called on Mayor Belen Fernandez at the Dagupan City Hall.
They were accompanied by Maria Lolita Morga and Carlos Jose Daroya, trainer/coach in Taekwondo; Renelyn Cerina and Jefferson Lao, trainer/coach in swimming; and Tennis Coach Dawn Daryl Canete.
Fernandez congratulated the athletes, their parents, trainers, coaches and City Schools Superintendent Dr. Rowena Banzon, Assistant City Schools Superintendent Dr. Marciano Soriano Jr. and Finnela Sim, sports city sports consultant, for the honor that they gave to Dagupan City. (Leonardo Micua)
