46 families evacuated due to Typhoon Egay
AT the height of Typhoon Egay, there were 46 families, composed of 159 individuals, who were brought to different evacuation centers in Pangasinan.
Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Officer Rhodyn Oro said other
affected families opted not to go to evacuation centers and sought shelter in the homes of their relatives.
Oro said PDRRMO raised red alert status among its personnel since July 24 so that they can help in the rescue and evacuation of residents affected by the typhoon.

Tornado destroys houses in Calasiao
A TORNADO ripped through a residential area in Barangay Nalsian in Calasiao at the height of strong wind and rains spawned by Typhoon Egay in the afternoon of July 25.
Kristine Joy Soriano, municipal risk reduction and management officer of Calasiao, told IFM Radio Dagupan that based on the monitoring and inspection of Nalsian barangay officials and the Municipal Social Development Office (MSDO), three houses were totally damaged and 11 others were partially destroyed as a result of the tornado.
Soriano said water level at Marusay River was 5.7 feet meters above sea level or at above normal level that day.

Landslide and erosion-prone places in Pangasinan identified
THE Provincial Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) warned residents living in very highly susceptible landslide-prone areas to move to safer grounds because soil erosion was possible at the height of Typhoon Egay.
The warning was given to residents of Aguilar, Bugallon, Labrador, Mangatarem, in the second district and those from San Fabian and San Jacinto in the fourth district.
In the fifth district, at risk to landslide and erosion are some places in Binalonan, Pozorrubio and Sison, and the towns of Natividad, Umingan, San Quintin, San Manuel and San Nicolas in the sixth district.
The public was urged to visit the Facebook page of Pangasinan Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office to know the places in the province that are susceptible to landslide.

All transport groups in Pangasinan did not join Tigil Pasada
SOME 30 transport groups in Region 1 did not join the transport strike organized by the militant group Manibela timed during the State of the Nation Address of President Bongbong Marcos at the Batasang Pambansa.
Twenty-two of these transport groups and cooperatives from Pangasinan had announced before the strike that that they were not joining the strike. In fact, the Pangasinan Express Transport Cooperative in Urdaneta City condemned the transport strike staged by Manibela.
The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) Region I maintained that in truth, all transport groups expressed their support to the public utility vehicle modernization program of the national government.

PHO hails lifting of COVID-19 emergency
THE Provincial Heath Office hailed the decision of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. to lift the COVID-19 emergency throughout the country. Dr. Anna De Guzman, provincial health officer, confirmed that only few individuals are now being infected by COVID-19 since the high vaccination rate was achieved.
However, she still urged the public not to forget the lessons learned from this pandemic, i.e., the public health minimum requirements: washing of hands with soap and water, and the wearing of face masks especially if the person is immuno-compromised and elderly citizen.
Lastly, De Guzman called on the public to get COVID-19 booster shot because this is their added protection against the disease.

2.4 million Pangasinenses register for PhilSys
MORE than two million Pangasinenses have already registered with the Philippine Statistics Authority as of June 30 this year, and 2, 413, 658 individuals from Pangasinan already availed of Step 2 PhilSys ID Registration as of the end of June.
PSO Pangasinan partly credited this big number of registrants to the PhilSys School Registration Campaign which it launched to encourage students to register.
As of June 30, 968,905 received their E-PhilIDs or the temporary ID base.
PhilSys ID Registration is still going on at the office of the Pangasinan PSA in Calasiao.

MBTF discusses Lifeline Rate for the poor with Decorp
IN a bid to help poor electric consumers, Dagupan City held a meeting with the Dagupan Electric Corporation to discuss the granting of discounts in electric bills for families considered poorest of the poor in the city.
Joined by City Social Welfare and Development Officer, Mayor Belen Fernandez asked Decorp for an update in the implementation of the ‘Lifeline Rate’ based on the provision of Republic Act No. 11552 which provides consumer discounts in electric bills if he or she is one among the most impoverished families living in Dagupan City.
During the discussion, up to 100 percent discount can be availed of by a beneficiary if he or she can be certified as marginalized end-user and a beneficiary of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps).
Based on the lifeline rate of Decorp, if an end-user consumes, 1-20kwh, 100% discount can be granted per month; 21-30kWh = 50% discount per month; 31-40kWh = 20% discount per month; and 41-50kWh= 5% discount per month.
