BOLINAO’S top destinations – Bolinao Falls in Barangay Samang Norte and Patar Public Beach in Barangay Patar – were temporarily closed to all tourists and visitors based on an advisory issued on July 20, 2023 by the Bolinao Tourism Office.

The decision to close was made out of safety concerns caused by above-normal water levels and strong water current at Bolinao Falls.

Additionally, strong waves and currents persisted at Patar Beach.

For everyone’s safety, swimming and other activities in these areas were suspended “until further notice.”

“We apologize for any inconvenience this closure may cause and appreciate your understanding in ensuring the safety of all visitors. We will provide updates on the reopening of these attractions as soon as it is safe to do so,” it added.

Meanwhile, the Bolinao government ordered the immediate temporary closure and suspension of operations of Vero Amore Beach Resort located in Barangay Ilog-Malino.

This action was ordered due to a drowning incident that happened last July 16, 2023.

The closure order was served by Municipal Tourism Officer Mary De Guzman with PNP Bolinao personnel and Ilog Malino Barangay Official Kagawad Bert De Guzman.

“The said resort failed to meet the standards and requirements of the operation of a tourism establishment during the inspection conducted by Municipal Composite Inspection Team last July 17, 2023,” the closure order said.

It added, “We wish to remind the public as well as the proprietors/management of tourism establishments to strictly comply with existing national and local laws governing tourism-related matters and follow local policies for the safety and security of everyone”. (Eva Visperas)
