NCR cop robs girlfriend’s mother
A POLICEMAN who went on leave for a chance to rob his girlfriend’s mother in Barangay Talang, San Carlos City, was tracked and arrested.
Arrested were P/Corporal Jhomel Blas, 29 years old, active SWAT member stationed at the Northern Police District (NPD) of the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO), and brother Jerick Blas, 27, security guard, both residents of Baggao, Cagayan province.
P/Colonel Jeff Fanged Pangasinan Police Provincial Office (PPPO) director, said the victim was Cayabyab Cariño, mother of Blas girlfriend, a policewoman, also stationed at the NPD-NCRPO.
Cariño was closing her agriculture supply store in Barangay Talang at 7pm when the Blas brothers approached Cariño and pepper sprayed her, and snatched her plastic container that had P300,000 cash in it
The brothers immediately fled, but were soon arrested in a nearby barangay after a follow-up operation.
Recovered were their getaway vehicle, P156,000 cash, some short and long firearms, stolen vehicle number plates, live ammunitions, and identification cards.
Blas reportedly asked for permission to leave, to visit his family in Baggao, Cagayan but he went to Pangasinan instead to rob his “biyenan”.
Police are also investigating whether the firearms recovered were stolen from the NPD-NCRPO armory, as some items were missing. The Blas brothers are currently under police custody. (Ahikam Pasion)
