Mangaldan ordinance on Angalacan River set
AFTER more than two months of deliberation, the Sangguniang Bayan of Mangaldan passed the proposed municipal ordinance regulating swimming and other activities along Angalacan River.
According to Councilor Aldrin Soriano during an interview Monday, May 15, the ordinance entitled, “An Ordinance Regulating Swimming and Other Related Recreational Activities Along Angalacan River in the Municipality of Mangaldan, Pangasinan” was already transmitted to the Sangguniang Panlalawigan for further review and approval.
Among the provisions that he introduced in the draft ordinance were: inclusion of flags or warning signs indicating a no-swim zone, banning drunk individuals to swim along the river, and the formation of the Task Force Angalacan River to watch over the 12 barangays the river passes through.
Soriano expects the ordinance to be passed and enacted in Mangaldan town by June.
The ten-kilometer river is part of the much-larger Bued River system and a river tributary of the much-larger Cayanga River in San Fabian town. It covers 12 barangays in Mangaldan town and runs through the municipalities of Pozorrubio, Mangaldan, Mapandan, and Manaoag. (Ahikam Pasion)
