TWO solar power plants worth US$503-million will rise in Dasol and Infanta towns in Pangasinan following the signing of Joint Development Agreement among three parties on May 3 at the Urduja House in Lingayen.

The agreement was sealed after CSFirst Green Agri-Industrial Development Inc., URIT Limited Philippines Corporation and China Energy International Group Company signed two Joint Development Agreements.

The solar power plant in Infanta will cost $285-M while Dasol solar power plant will cost $218-M that both promise to boost economic and job opportunities in the province.

The two solar power projects will add renewable energy capacity of 321 megawatts (MW) to Pangasinan’s energy requirements by the end of 2026 or early 2027.

The first project, the CSFirst Green Infanta Solar Power Project in Infanta will have a capacity of 181MW while the second, CSFirst Green Dasol Solar Power will have a capacity of 140MW, both without producing air pollutants.

The signatories to the Joint Development Agreements were Gov. Ramon Guico III, Former Bayambang Mayor Cezar Quiambao, Bernard Bawing of CSFirst Green Agri-Industrial Development Inc., Jesus Antonio Magsaysay and Jusslyn Ong Tan both of URIT Limited Philippines Corp., Andy Wu and Jang Jiyu of China Energy International.

Magsaysay said URIT is ready to work, adding that this is a very nice project that will bring more solar power in Pangasinan.

Quiambao thanked the provincial government for giving them the opportunity to develop projects in Infanta and Dasol.

Andy Wu said, “Pangasinan is a very suitable place to develop solar plants because sunshine is very strong and it is not very far from Manila”.

For his part, Guico congratulated the three parties that have signed the very important agreements for the huge investments amid a looming crisis and again Pangasinan is playing a key role in contributing to the power requirements in the country. (Eva Visperas)
