THE capital town of Lingayen will soon have its own storage facility and fish processing plant in Barangay Poblacion after the Food Terminal Incorporated (FTI) held its groundbreaking ceremony for its Regional Food Terminal on April 14.

Lingayen Mayor Leopoldo Bataoil said establishment of the facility is a dream come true for Lingayen, because it will definitely benefit fisherfolks and other agriculture producers not only in this town, province or in the region as well.

FTI President/CEO Robert Tan said their company “is pleased to be able to provide the locality of Lingayen with cost-efficient refrigeration technology and services that will invigorate the town’s commerce, create job opportunities and further harness and sharpen the technical skills of local producers and farmers as well”.

Vice Mayor Mac Malicdem also expressed the Sangguniang Bayan’s full support to the project that he said will eventually provide more jobs for residents and from nearby towns.

Vice Gov. Mark Lambino, representing Gov. Ramon Guico III said the excess fish supply in the province need not be sold cheap if they can be creatively and competently processed so that sufficiency and security is ensured without sacrificing the standard of safety.

The construction of the facility will be finished in five months, according to the winning bidder. (Eva Visperas)
