Rabies cases rising in Dagupan City – CHO
RABIES cases are on the rise in Dagupan City as health authorities continue to warn about it throughout the summer season.
So far, 700 cases of animal bites were already recorded last month March or 200 cases higher than February this year.
Dr. Ofelia Rivera, Dagupan City Health Officer, said dog bite cases increase seasonally each summer.
“Yung pagtaas ng bilang ay epekto na rin ng pagiging agresibo ng mga alagang hayop dahil sa nararanasang init ng panahon,” she said.
Rivera urged city residents bitten or scratched by animals, whether domesticated or wild, to immediately check with the city health office for free rabies vaccines.
Dr. Daniel Garcia, Dagupan City Veterinarian, said the City Veterinary Office (CVO) regularly conducts vaccination for pets throughout in the city from Tuesday to Friday and makes rounds in barangays so pet owners no longer need to travel for their pets’ vaccines. (Ahikam Pasion)
