Cracks noted on Calasiao bridge  

CRACKS have been noted on the bridge in Barangay Songcoy, Calasiao not because of a recent earthquake but because it is already old and needs immediate rehabilitation.

Rolando Mendoza, barangay administrator of Songcoy, said members of the barangay council conducted an inspection on the damaged bridge and confirmed seeing cracks at the foundation of the bridge. He recommended that motorists be stopped from using the bridge as it may give way soon and yet its rehabilitation is still uncertain.

He said the bridge needs immediate rehabilitation to prevent Songcoy residents from being isolated. (Jhon Caranto)

Discipline ordinances now in effect in Burgos 

OWNERS of small and medium enterprises in the central market of Burgos town were given orientation by the local LGU on cleanliness and sanitation as provided for in a municipal ordinance.

They were specifically briefed on the town’s anti-littering, anti-smoking, anti-dumping of non-biodegradable plastic bags ordinances recently passed by the Sangguniang Bayan. Enforcement of the Anti-Smoking Ordinance and Anti-Littering Ordinance started last month of March.

All these ordinances impose fines and penalties, including imprisonment of violators depending on the degree of their violations. (Jhon Caranto)

Pangasinenses warned over high temperature index

SO far, no person has suffered from heat stroke from the unusually high heat index in Pangasinan at this time of the summer season.

Provincial Health Officer Dr. Anna Maria Theresa De Guzman told IFM Dagupan that the Provincial Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit (PESU) of her office has not recorded any victim caused by the hot weather condition.

According to her, a person need to consult a health professional immediately if he/she feels heat exhaustion, heat cramps, dehydration, and high blood pressure because the level of the stroke can be life-threatening.

Other seasonal diseases under watch by health authorities are gastroenteritis, diarrhea, measles, and sore eyes. (Jhon Caranto)

Veterinary medical mission held in Asingan

A VETERINARY medical mission was held last March 29 in Asingan that gave free veterinary service to local pets like dogs, cats and other animals.

Spearheaded by LGU Asingan’s Municipal Agriculture Office and the Office of the Provincial Veterinarian, the activity also provided free consultation, deworming, giving of vitamins to pets and other animals as well as castration. (Lyka Blanco)

PNP Rosales receives new community precinct, patrol cars, motorcycles 

A NEW police precinct in Barangay Guilig, including  patrol vehicles and motorcycles, were turned over by LGU Rosales to the Rosales PNP following an inauguration ceremony attended by P/Colonel Jeff Fanged, Pangasinan police provincial director.

Rosales Mayor William Cesar turned over its donation to the local PNP to further improve the efficiency level of the Rosales PNP in maintaining peace and order in the town.

The police patrol vehicles and motorcycles will give the town police more mobility in responding to any trouble and threat to peace in the town, the mayor said.  (Jhon Caranto)

Sison holds symposium for women protection 

A SYMPOSIUM was held in Sison town during the Women’s Month Celebration sponsored by LGU Sison and the town’s womenfolk aimed at increasing awareness of women concerning their rights and protection.

In that symposium, different laws that protect women and children, i.e., R.A.  No. 9262 (the law penalizing abuse of women and children, R.A. No. 11862 ( An act that punishes trafficking of persons, including women and children; and the “Anti-Trafficking on Persons Act  and other special laws.

The symposium was attended by barangay captains, members of the KALIPI and Solo Parent, Police VAWC Desk Officers, Day Care Workers, and  Barangay Kagawads. (Ronna Racca)

One million Pangasinenses still waiting their PSA ID

MORE than a million Pangasinenses have not yet received their national identification cards  from the Philippine Statistic Authority (PSA).

This was gleaned from PSA itself after it announced the availability of  ePhilID or the Digital card that could be used as temporarily ID cards pending receipt of a person’s national ID from PSA. ePhilID and PhilSys or the Digital Card can be used in any transaction and warned agencies and companies not honoring ePhilID as proof of identity can charged for violation of EO No. 162-2022.

To avail of  ePhilID, a person must have already registered with PSA and has his or her personal data already taken by the agency, must give his or her transaction number so that the digital copy of the National ID can be printed. (Roma Racca)

New modus of scammers bared in Bayambang

LGU Bayambang issued a warning on its Facebook page alerting the public to be wary against the new modus of scammers in victimizing their victims.

The new modus: the scammers first hack the Facebook accounts of persons, then would send messages to their relatives and tell them they met accidents and badly needed money that could be sent through GCash for their hospitalization.

A number of  Bayambang residents already reported losing sums of money to this modus by sending money immediately to the sender of text messages or callers without first confirming if their relatives really met accidents. (Rona Racca)

LGUS, households asked to save 10% electricity

THE  Philippine National Oil Company Renewable Corporation, under the Department of Energy, urged all households in Manaoag to join the Government Energy Management Program that encourages reduction of monthly consumption of electricity by 10 percent.

Together with LGU Manaoag headed by Mayor Jeremy Agerico Rosario, PNOCRC held a meeting in Manaoag where town officials and residents were urged to bring down their monthly electricity consumption as well as their consumption of gasoline and oil. Drivers and owners of vehicles were also asked to plan their trips to save on fuel.

For its part, LGU Manaoag is observing a 4 o’clock habit – all air conditioners are turned off till 5:00 p.m. (Rona Racca)

MOA signed for continuous supplementary program in Anda

A MEMORANDUM of Agreement was signed by the Department of Education in Anda the Convoy of Hope Philippines (COH)and LGU Anda for the launching of “Feeding Anda, Batang Isla with Hope.”

The MOA provides for the holding of continuous supplementary feeding program in the town aimed at ending malnutrition among school children, particularly pre-schoolers. LGU Anda said the feeding is part of its advocacy to make children of Anda livelier and healthier. (Rona  Racca)
