1st Quarter RDC-1 Council Meeting discussed 2024 budgets
THE Regional Development Council of Region 1 held its 1st Quarter Meeting at the Pangasinan Training and Development Center II (PTDC II) located at the Capitol Complex in Lingayen on March 22.
Spearheaded by the National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA), the full council meeting with the four governors in attendance, was focused on various concerns to include the proposed 2024 Budget for priority projects in economic, social, infrastructure, governance, environment, and natural resources were discussed by the Regional Line Agencies (RLAs) along with the Local Government Units (LGUs) and the Private Sectors of Region I.
Also included in the agenda were the Regional Development Plan (RDP0 2023-2028) and Regional Development Investment Program (RDIP) 2023-2028.
Ilocos Norte Governor Matthew Joseph Manotoc, chairperson and presiding officer, suggested to compare the 2024 proposed budget with the previous year to see if there are changes in the Budget of Region I.
Meanwhile, Gov. Ramon Guico III, stressed the importance of right planning in the utilization of funds and other resources as he added insights about proper fiscal management.
Approved during the meeting proposed resolutions under the Research and Development, and Innovations (RRDIC), Resolution No.1, series of 2023 or Food Innovation Center (FIC) Technologies and the launching of Asin Research and Development Center under the Niche Centers in the Regions (NICER) which is a Department of Science and Technology (DOST) program.
In addition, the Social Development sector approved the organization of Pre-Marriage Orientation and Counseling (PMOC) Team with accredited councilors to guide the process of marriage as well as the National Household Targeting System or Listahan 3.
The Governance Sector signed the amendment of the membership status of members of the Cooperative Development Authority (CDA) – Regional Office I in an aim to make former Special Non-Voting Member (SNVM) of RDC-1 become Regular Voting Member.
The RLAs, LGUs and the Private Sectors joined forces for the approval of Resolution No. 10, s. 2022 in order to provide the Philippine Statistics Authority data on the estimated 2020-2022 Gross Regional Domestic Product at Gross Regional Domestic Expenditure.
Also discussed was the status of supply and demand of energy in Region 1 from 2016 to 2022 and its result in the coming years was also tackled. (PIO)
