HR Head shot by unidentified hitmen
THE Human Resource Head of a private hospital in Dagupan City was shot by still unidentified persons Tuesday morning, March 14, in Barangay Caranglaan in the city.
Victim Bernadette Velasco Abella, 45, a department head at the Dagupan Doctors Villaflor Hospital, was rushed to the hospital after sustaining five gunshot wounds in different parts of her body – two in her chest, and three in her abdomen.
In an interview, PNP Provincial Director Colonel Jeff Fanged said two suspects alighted from their vehicle, and shot the victim several times. Nine spent shells from a handgun have been recovered by probers.
Fanged said motive is still be being determined while police are currently checking CCTV footages in the area to identify the assailants.
In a separate interview, P/Lt.Col Vicente Castor Jr., Dagupan City chief of police, said they are looking into two persons of interest who may be involved in the shooting.
The victim is still unconscious in the Intensive Care Unit as of this writing.
Meanwhile, Fanged said with the cooperation of the victim’s family and friends, they are capable of solving the incident. (Ahikam Pasion)
