Trapped green sea turtle brought back to the sea
AN 83X79 cm. long green sea turtle was found in a fish trap locally known as pasabing on Feb. 27 along Barangay Pangapisan, Alaminos City near the Mangrove Bani.
It was immediately turned over by John Paul Ginez and Jomark Organista of the said barangay, accompanied by Barangay Kagawad Dennis Tala.
This unharmed green sea turtle, the biggest so far surrendered to the City Agriculture Office, was promptly brought back to the sea.
City Mayor Arth Bryan Celeste thanked the two fishermen who handed over the green sea turtle to authorities.
Officials from the Department of Environment and Natural Resources and Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources are reminding the residents in coastal communities that it is unlawful to sell and slaughter pawikan. (Eva Visperas)
